On June 13, 2010, the McMinnville Police Department (MPD) received a certificate of State Accreditation from members of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. The department completed a three year pilot program in just under sixteen months. MPD is just one of two law enforcement agencies in the State to be the first to receive State accreditation. Since that time, over 30 other law enforcement agencies have applied to start the new accreditation process.

Students from Bobby Ray Elementary visited the police department May 4, 2010 for Job Shadow Day. Students had hands on experience dusting for fingerprints and they enjoyed exploring a police vehicle. It was pizza for lunch followed by trying on bullet proof vest and other police equipment. We appreciate the opportunity to visit with citizens of all ages and fun was had by all.

Aaron Solomon of Channel 4 News in Nashville facilitated a training seminar on Media Relations on March 29, 2010, as a part of our annual in-service training. The two hour session was entertaining and very informative.
